A Note on GMVS/Songfics

I've been thinking. There are so many GMVs labeled Organization Character Themes, bla bla. And maybe a tenth of them use Disney...and horribly mischaracterize.

It's depressing (If I see ONE MORE XALDIN with Colors of the Wind I WILL SHOOT SOMETHING. SHOOT IT DEAD.) (That goes for Under The Sea Demyx, too.).

So, I went through both my extensive Disney ( Read more... )

variety, songfic, amv, disney

"On My Way" is just Sora in a nutshell, and I think "I'm Still Here" fits Roxas and Riku as well.

Though, I gotta say, "You Got a Friend in Me" is much better suited for Sora, Donald and Goofy's friendship than Axel and Roxas's, I dunno, there's just a certian sentimental quality to it that doesn't really mesh with those two, but makes perfect sense for the Trinity, and the line "When the road looks rough ahead, and you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed..." brings to mind Sora's journey.

There's a line in "A Star is Born" that works for KH's heroes in general "Just remember in your darkest hour within your heart's the power, for making you a hero too"

Yeah, true, but Axel to me seems to be just the Friend Guy, especially concerning Days, and some of his lines in bbs.

Hercules in general seems to work for the heroes.

(though since bbs the entire soundtrack reminds me of crisis core augh)

But Days shows that their friendship was kind of tragic and complicated, and I think the song works better for simple, fluffy ones, but that's just me.

Well the moral of Hercules was about the strenght of the heart.

Want to know the hilarious thing?
The ever wonderful tunasaladsonnet actually did a fic that focused purely on Lexaeus (and him visiting the Pocahontas world) called Steady as a Beating Drum.

Is that the one where he meets Pocahontas's friend?

I read it; it was fantastic.

... WTF?

Poor Unfortunate Souls? Riku? Riku isn't a deal-with-the-devil type villain. Okay, he is, but on the wrong side. He's the brainwashed, beat-you-up-because-I've-been-told-you-hurt-me villain.

Malificent, yes, especially in KH. Hades. The Seeker of Darkness (that's, uh, Heartless!Ansem). Dr. Facilier, if we get a Kingdom Hearts with him in it (because he'd be perfect for the game, though maybe I'm biased...) Where does "You stole my keyblade and went and got new friends so now I kill you!" sound like "Of course I'm not going to screw you over! Where did you get that idea?"

I've seen Zexion with the Jonas Brothers' version of Poor Unfortunate Souls. It was... I liked it, but I fail to see how it fits him.

On the subject of Tarzan-Roxas songs, I could see "Strangers Like Me" for his first couple days in the Organization.

Off topicish, but for the first few weeks before I realised that version of Poor Unfortunate Souls was a cover, because my memory is shit and I haven't seen the Little Mermaid in over a decade, I wound up thinking the song about hookers and have never been able to unsee it.

So now, with people coupling it with Zexion, I'm laughing so very hard.
