I'm particularly offended by the whole "Hetero =/= Awesome" arguement, mostly because it has no basis in fact (or fiction, for that matter).

Statistically speaking, 10% of the characters in Kingdom Hearts are not heterosexual. This doesn't mean that they are less awesome than the other 90% percent, it means that they would rather have a partner of the same sex, both sexes or not have one at all. Jesus...

13 Years Old And Stupid has obviously never, ever witnessed a full scale, mega-wank, shipwar. Shipping, and by extension yaoi, is srs bsns to many, many people.

18 Years Old And Confused seems to have made brash generalisations with a tiny portion of the story. Some people do like yaoi and yuri because pretty + pretty + sex = hot, and they do like to read their own personal kinks in fics because that's what floats their boat.

And others just like to read the character relationships taken to another level, or someone else's take on how certain developments would be handled and so on and so forth, and that's what floats their boat.
