Spoilers in second partstarcrossed_skyMarch 29 2010, 17:27:35 UTC
Actually, he DOES arguably make it into KH2; if you're a total nerd, you'll notice there's a picture of Sora, Namine, and a skirted Riku on the floor of Namine's room.
But anyway, indeed, WORD. As I feel for most all of your rants. XD
But yeah, it's probably 'cause he's a guy. A friend of mine has noticed the same thing going on comparing Xion and Vanitas - both are "Soras" who came out of apparently nowhere, but Xion catches flak and Vanitas catches "Ooooh, more selfcest for Ven!" WTF no.

Iono. Maybe because Hige and I weren't on such friendly terms until I posted my Kairi-Xion rant and it got us to being sympathetic about Xion o.o And shoujo ai
Wow, I didn't even know he was considered different from her in Fandom. I thought of them as the same, because of their situations they had to go through.
I kinda figured it's because they're not the same. Repliku isn't advanced like Xion is. He's a one form Clone (of Riku), and only has Riku's memories as a copy. Unlike Sora and Xion, it costs nothing for Riku to have his clone around.
When Repliku was created he was fine with being a copy, he felt that he was a growing superior version of Riku. But what develops the sympathy is that he was forced into accepting Riku's memories. An important part is that by the time you 'meet' Repliku, you've gone through most of all of Sora's game thinking he's the real Riku. You've become attached to him by that route, and when he 'dies', it seems like a Noble Sacrifice for Sora's sake. So you have this Clone who's been lied to into thinking he was someone else, had a purpose in life and suddenly gets that striped away sacrificing himself for Sora.
Then you get to Reverse Rebirth. There's a greater horror in realizing how 'far' they went to torment him. Without a past, he didn't care that he was a clone, then they force him into taking on Riku's
( ... )
Reminds me of when people assumed Repliku was Riku's Heartless because they were going by screen caps off the japanese game. They didn't even wait for the subtitles from over there XD. Such impatience. Generally lines like that are from people who don't have enough mental strength to connect dots. They 'know' they hate Xion, and they need a justification
( ... )
Xion was still kiiiinda forced into a decision, though. It literally came down to: absorb Roxas or die. While she "chose" death, was it really a choice? Given that she is based on Sora's memories, I'd say not really. To Sora, there isn't really a choice--the good of the majority comes first.
They were both pretty much just copies of their respective person, they go the route that that person would have gone had they not changed (or had something else kept them from going down that path).
