MarVex, wut?

Recently, on AIM, someone asked me why I dislike MarVex. Now, this came out of the blue, and confused me--as I even have a deviation highlighting the main reasons why I dislike it. So I pointed them to this, and, well... Their arguments were thus

Of all the pairings to claim as canon... Marluxia/Vexen? Seriously?? Until it somehow became the fandom OTP for those two (which I still do not understand), the idea of them had never even crossed my mind. At least with Sora/Riku or Axel/Roxas, when someone claims canon, you can at least see why they think that.

But Marluxia and Vexen? I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or be utterly terrified someone legitimately thinks it's canon. @_@ DID WE PLAY THE SAME GAME?

apparently, their argument is, "BUT THEY LOVE EACH OTHER, THAT'S WHY THE FIGHT ALL THE TIME AND STUFF LIKE THAT! THEY LUUUUUUUUV EACH OTHER!"

...No. They HATE each other. How do you get "love" out of, "Oh, hey, Axel! Go kill this guy for me, please!"?

I have no problem with pairing people based on mutual dislike or powerplay (my OTP is kind of Marluxia/Axel for that very reason |D) but the problem I have with most Marluxia/Vexen stuff is that it's all FLUFF AND RAINBOWS. D: I think I read one fic on a kink meme where it wasn't and that was the one and only piece I liked for the pairing. Everything else is just so OOC it's painful.

If I could find more of it based on the fact that they seem like they can't even stay in the same room as one another without being disgusted, I might like it. But no, it's all "genuine" fluff because they love each other so very much with their non-existant hearts, goddamnit fandom. 8(

I tend to ship Axel and Marluxia as brothers (admit it--it suddenly makes sense of why he was so trusting and eager to let Axel in). xD

No, none of them are outright stated as canon, but Marluxia and Vexen are so far from canon it's out of sight. I like hateships, but claiming that they're canon as a romance is just silly.

Vexen despised Marluxia. That is canon. I think those words are even used in canon. By Lexaeus.

Disclaimer -- I quite like the pairing, but as you said, it's rarely done in a believable way.

The only way I can ever see them together is through massive amounts of yelling, arguing and hate!sex.

But it is the very opposite of canon.

ha ha what. KH is famous for having no canon pairings, aside from the Disney characters. (Yeah yeah, I know, all the characters are technically Disney, but you know what I mean.)

Of all the possible Organization XIII pairings, I would think that Marluxia/Vexen is one of the least likely to be canon. Like, top three least likely, if not at the tippy top.

Besides, who cares if a pairing is canon or not? About 85% of everything I ship ever is noncanon. Your pairing being canon or not does not make it any more "valid" than any other pairing.

Yeah, exactly, there are no pairings aside from previously established Disney pairings (like Ariel and Eric, or Aurora and Stephan, or Snow White and Prince Charming).

And I think they use the "IT'S SO CANON! excuse as a defense mechanism.

And even then some of us tend to say 'fuck it!' and pair the Disney characters with someone else. XD
