MarVex, wut?

Recently, on AIM, someone asked me why I dislike MarVex. Now, this came out of the blue, and confused me--as I even have a deviation highlighting the main reasons why I dislike it. So I pointed them to this, and, well... Their arguments were thus

Of all the pairings to claim as canon... Marluxia/Vexen? Seriously?? Until it somehow became the fandom OTP for those two (which I still do not understand), the idea of them had never even crossed my mind. At least with Sora/Riku or Axel/Roxas, when someone claims canon, you can at least see why they think that.

But Marluxia and Vexen? I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or be utterly terrified someone legitimately thinks it's canon. @_@ DID WE PLAY THE SAME GAME?

I know. It disturbs me.

apparently, their argument is, "BUT THEY LOVE EACH OTHER, THAT'S WHY THE FIGHT ALL THE TIME AND STUFF LIKE THAT! THEY LUUUUUUUUV EACH OTHER!"

...No. They HATE each other. How do you get "love" out of, "Oh, hey, Axel! Go kill this guy for me, please!"?

I have no problem with pairing people based on mutual dislike or powerplay (my OTP is kind of Marluxia/Axel for that very reason |D) but the problem I have with most Marluxia/Vexen stuff is that it's all FLUFF AND RAINBOWS. D: I think I read one fic on a kink meme where it wasn't and that was the one and only piece I liked for the pairing. Everything else is just so OOC it's painful.

If I could find more of it based on the fact that they seem like they can't even stay in the same room as one another without being disgusted, I might like it. But no, it's all "genuine" fluff because they love each other so very much with their non-existant hearts, goddamnit fandom. 8(

I tend to ship Axel and Marluxia as brothers (admit it--it suddenly makes sense of why he was so trusting and eager to let Axel in). xD

Yeah, the fluff just... KILL ME NOW.

I'll ship them as anything, really, I just love interaction between the two, haha. n_n;;

Fluff in any relationship involving Marluxia or Vexen is just weird, nevermind with the both of them. :( I don't know why fangirls have such problems with that. It's not like double negatives! It doesn't cancel out that way. D8

Me and a friend sure manage... SLIGHT fluff between Vexen and Lucrecia.

It's typically after some huge argument where they verbally ripped each other apart because they're both stubborn. XD

Haha, that's awesome. And certainly still beats the kind of fluff you'd get from a typical M/V fanfic. XD;

Yeah, it's pretty much, in the middle of screaming at each other, they suddenly start making out and have hawt make-up secks.

You might be interested in reading rex_dart's 'Daea Ex Machina'. It has some very good Marluxia/Vexen that surprised even me, and I thought it was rather realistically done (even if the fic is jokey as a whole, I thought that none of the pairings were done thoughtlessly and I could accept the Marly/Vexen within the story. They shout, they fight and have some... presumably very violent sex (ask Leon)).

I don't even like Marluxia/Vexen that much, just thought I'd put out a recommendation since you said you were sick of the fluff and rainbows for the pairing. ^^
