Badfic writers, take note

This news regarding the North American release of Re:CoM makes me so incredibly happy. I pray that they do a good job with the dubbing so that hopefully SOME of the people who can't seem to get the CoM Nobodies' characterizations right will finally change their ways. And then maybe we can take a break from the constant onslaught of flaming!Marluxia ( Read more... )

Whether or not the dubbing is good we're still going to get batshittery and OOC in the fandom. Every fandom suffers it to some extent at some point in its existence.

Well, yes, but I'm just hoping that now that they're releasing the shiny PS2 version of the game, it'll get some people to play it who opted out of the GBA version who might do it some justice. I know the majority will be, as usual, made of fail, but if I can get some nice new IC Organization fic out of the deal, then I will count it a victory, if just a small one.

Well, they might - they might not. I bet we're going to get some good Organization fic anyway (somewhere), especially as there are a couple of plot points that weren't in the original GBA version. And somebody who is trying to make the characters IC (to a believable extent) might get more ideas on how to do it.

And I'm especially expecting some wank over the English dub, regardless of whether it's good or not - especially if some of the actors are (oh noes!) famous. But that's another story! XD

I don't care what it'll do to fandom. I'll always love canon updates :)

Most definitely; I'll be thrilled to finally get to play it either way!

k;sdjf;lkjasd;lfkjlskjfslkdjf if I have one wish, it is that they do Marluxia's voice justice. Because hooooo-oooooly shit, MAN HAS A DEEP VOICE ♥

As long as they keep his voice deep, I will be pleased. XD;; */superficial*

Also, I am super-super excited for this to come out. ♥♥♥

I feel the same way: deep-voice for Marluxia, with an added bonus if they don't make Zexion sound like a little kid. >__

I agree so much with your Marluxia comments XD; I was just FLOORED when I heard his voice in Japanese for the first time and I was in love with it ever since. I really really want them to do justice to his original voice. I'm impartial to what's done to the rest of the game, but I want Marluxia to rock *shallow* XD;;;;;

Please Square ♥

Me too. XD I was just watching it with a "Meh :|" face at first and then MARLUXIA SPOKE and I swear to god I squeed. XDDD And had to replay that part of the trailer multiple times in order to listen to it.

I don't think we have too~ much to worry about on the other fronts, though. :| Usually they at least try to get good actors... I think I'm mostly worried about Marluxia and Larxene. If they try to give her some sort of like... Aerith-esque voice, I will flip a shit. :|||

Great. XDD Now I have myself thinking of like, Tseng's voice (from Crisis Core) as Marluxia and it's cracking me up.

As awesome as RE:CoM is... We'll still have bad OOC... I mean some people can't even write Sora properly.

This is true... I didn't mean to imply that Re:CoM's going to eradicate OOC fics from the face of the planet. I'm just saying that up until now a lot of people didn't play the game at all and are writing based on what they've read on wiki/seen on youtube/read in other fanfiction (baaaaad habit)/etc. Hopefully the shiny new PS2 version will attract some of those people to take a closer look at the characters.

It's a bit over-optimistic, I know, but it'd be cool if there's even the smallest influx of brand new good stuff. @__@

I agree with what's been said above. There will still be badfic, but hopefully less. *puts on optimism face*

*raises hand* There's been some sort of multi-chaptered Lexaeus-centric fic that's been floating in my head, but I have no idea what's going on. I hope my mind will sit down and talk it out to me soon.

That was basically what I was trying to say, too. I have a history here of wording my posts poorly, I guess. ._.;

That's pretty much how I've been for the last couple of YEARS with the KH crossover I wanted to write. I had about a billion ideas for the beginning and then my brain went, "Oh wait... where is this going to end?" And the answer was, "Crap, I have no idea." XD; At any rate, Lexaeus is made of win and yay, so I hope your mind sits down and talks it out to you soon, too!

Also, icon love. <3

No, no, I understand! I'm even worse at wording my rants. XD

That's happening to me too. Some giant Kairi adventure is knawing at me, and I'm starting to plan the prequel, but I have no idea how the Kairi part of it will end. Oh, this fandom. It's given me one too many epic!plotbunnies.

*pimps iconnaissances. She is one of the most loverly icon makers out there. ♥
