I don't know that much about Final Fantasy, pretty much getting the characterizations from KH, COM, and KH2... but Cloud's not really what a general person would call cute in this sense:

Really, I like how Cloud acts in the KH games, and I think his interaction with Leon would be fun. (As friends... but to each his own)

An 'uke' is the character that, well, is bottom, or submissive in a yaoi relationship. This is stereotyped as the girlier guy that has no spine, is shorter and usually looks somewhat underage, and basically has no problems being raped/controlled/abused by the seme.

In fact, bug-eyed (aka 'chibi') Cloud is the most popular image of Cloud from FF7, amongst the fangirls. I don't understand why, though, seeing as Cloud is supposed to be this dark, brooding, heroic, responsible shizzthingywhat. They think he's 'cute' and... what was that term? Ugh, uke (sp & wtf is uke?)

Eh, I'm sure at least that in in its origins, the crudeness wasn't necessary. But if you're looking as to the answer for why so many people rant about it: there you have it.

I'd argue Cloud's got some cute going on when he's flustered (See: FFVII) but, certainly not enough to become a limp-wristed shy blushing delicate flower.
