A humble favor to ask.

I'm having a few issues comprehending the great depth and artistic eloquence of this particular work, especially with that disclaimer in the bottom, reproduced here: "I would also like to mention we do not approve of some of the language used in this series, but just because we don't approve of it doesn't mean we don't use characters that would ( Read more... )

That's what she said to me when I called her on it. It's a load of shit, in my opinion. "The comic is OOC but this homophobic slur is totally IC for a character who has never made a homophobic comment in all her screen time, so we'll just throw it in there," is the basic gist I'm getting, which makes no sense.

But I didn't want to spend days and days arguing with her about whether Larxene would say it or not, so I just dropped it. Even if I won that argument it would just turn into "Well we used it as a joke so that's okay," or "You're being too PC," or "It's my comic leave me alone!" and it would just be pointless and never ending and I'd end up looking like the asshole for being mean to some kid about her comic strip.

*shrugs* I shall just not read her comics anymore. I'm sure she'll miss me...

You have to remember that KH is a KID'S game. Characters never cuss on screen, so suddenly they're not allowed to cuss - even if it would fit their personality - in a fic? They can't do drugs, because they've never done it on screen? Have sex?

That's true, but she's also never given indication that she'd use terms like "fag". It's down to interpretation of her character I guess. Personally I just think she'd be more subtle than that ;)

It must be trendy or something.I've seen at least three fanfics where Larxene calls someone a 'fag,' and now we have this oh-so-famous comic. Lovely.

Wow. I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned a few times already.
So. It's a comic.
Yes, the use of the word 'fag' is inappropriate. However, the colorer of the comic doesn't seem to care much. In fact, she is probably just reveling in the attention she's getting from causing e-drama.
Now, I'm not defending her or anything just... if you don't like it, don't read it? I mean, this is the internet after all.

I don't know. It's difficult for the "don't like, don't read" idea to apply when the comics are on the front page of dA nearly every other day. It's not a matter of "just avoid it!" if you can't avoid it even if you wanted to.

You can read the whole comic in a thumbnail-sized preview? :|

I mean, just because it's up there doesn't necessarily mean you have to click on it, right?

Oh please. I use 'fag' and 'faggot' and 'dyke' all the time, and I'm not the slightest bit homophobic, and none of my homosexual friends have ever taken offense. I can easily imagine Larxene using these terms in a crack setting, which is what this is. And, that's what the artist says too. Nowhere on that page do I see 'omg Larxene would use these terms because she is established as having this personality in the game.'

So don't get your knickers in a knot. Fucking hell.
