WORD.

I also hate how Tidus is randomly thrown in there to make a love triangle with Cloud and Leon. Or sometimes he's just slashed with one of them. It's like...please give FFX/Final Fantasy games some justice. You're right, they're only thrown in for yaoi/sex.

Oh, and then in a yaoi/shounen ai fic, there's the occasional random yuri pairing. Like Tifa/Aerith or Kairi/Namine or something. Yuri's wonderful and all, but in fanfics, it's like a sin or something for their to be a mixture of het and gay pairings. I'm not saying there should be graphic sex scenes, but rather the acknowledgment of a straight pairing, and I'm not even straight.

It's just more realistic. ;O

&&& True that to the AMVs. Some of them are kinda funny though. Like...My Heart Will Go On. xD

Celion Dion? *dies* That's just priceless.

And I think all the Organization members have it better than any FF character. It's all crazy.

I could see Demyx deliberately singing "My Heart Will Go On" just to piss someone off and insist that "we do too have hearts" while he's being treed by Saix or something.

Even Wakka has it better off, since he's not the one in fan fiction being the kid who just stands in the background. D:

Yeah, people should add more to them based on the FF games they were in. Tidus, Selphie, Wakka, and even Yuna, Rikku and Paine. They're only thrown in the way they are in the actual KH game, and because they don't play important roles, it's all with no depth at all. >_>;

In a way, maybe I should excuse these people... but I'm thinking no. It's still abusing their characters.

To be fair, I have played both FFX and FFX-2, and that's the reason why I hate Tidus. Ugh. Trickle of disgust goin down the spine. Although I don't understand this whole "yay happy Tidus" thing, either. The reason why I don't like Tidus is because he's a total wanker who does nothing productive and whines and cries all the time and thinks that everything is about MEMEMEMEMEME. o.O In fact, if Tidus was more the happy person I see in KH fanfics, I'd probably like him.

Eh, to each their own. I wouldn't mind happy Tidus, but he's happy, brain-dead Tidus.

Really? We must have played different games, then. The Tidus I know is probably their most rounded hero to date, the most dynamic and the most interesting. He has up times and down times, good traits and bad - he's impulsive, he doesn't think before he speaks, he likes to scream to relieve frustration, he's a good friend, he cares about others, and he tries for the entire last half of the game to find a way to save Yuna. A crier? He cries precisely once, after the semi-reconciliation just before he has to kill his own father. Selfish and unproductive? This is the guy who gives up his spot on the blitz team to Wakka, because it's Wakka's time, even though blitzball is his life and the one familiar thing about Spira. This is the guy who, knowing he will "die," continues on and saves the goddamn world. He holds his friends and a world he doesn't know far and above his own life, a life that would include Yuna ( ... )

That image of Tidus may be because of his English voice. I personally like Tidus and don't think he's what you said he is, but I admit that his English voice's yelling moments really do seem to suggest otherwise...

To be fair, the FF characters in KH-universe is pretty severely AU. Tidus in KH-verse is far less issue-y. I think he's a show-off and pushover, but for all we know Jecht might be a halfway decent father in this world considering circumstances.

I think you can learn a lot about the FF characters in the KH-verse without having played the games. I mean, I boggle when Rinoa is suddenly mentioned when Leon is around. For all we know, maybe Rinoa is a resident at Destiny Islands who hangs out with Selphie while the boys are playing and Kairi is getting kidnapped! Or maybe Rinoa lives at Twilight Town, and has a crush on that rebel Seifer.

But I will say that even most of the time, education on the games or not, fanfiction is just generally bad and uncreative. Same general tripe, over and over -- it wasn't even good the first time, yo.

I sort of dislike Tidus in KH, but then, we see so little of him that I'm not sure it's enough to do anything with. If I was a person that never played FFX, I wouldn't even consider using Tidus because I'd just feel wrong doing it without knowing more about him.

I think the different situation of the KH universe could be a big opportunity to have some fun, but... at the same time... I wish people wouldn't abuse characters so much. Playing some of the games, or even doing additional net research could really help.

Just to inform, not to dictate, I mean. No one has to write according to the FF world, because KH world is different... but at least look at the history to send yourself more in the right direction or something.

Clarifying and I probably still make no sense. Ahh

I think there is one main problem: In KH, most FF characters don't have background stories or well-balanced personalities. We know next to nothing about them and only a few have reasons why they act the way they do ( ... )

I think that the real problem is that the creators of Kingdom Hearts left like six hundred plot holes. Or just holes. Big gaping ones.

Like, okay. Leon's world was destroyed. You could take that to mean that he came from the regular old Final Fantasy VIII world, right? Which is totally what I did in KH1.

But then KH2 comes out, and... Seifer is a little kid? BUT MY OTP.

So. Where the fuck did Leon come from? Why is he wearing Laguna's jacket? WHY IS HIS HAIR SO UGLY? It's all too confusing for me.

Well, but we do have little Selphie in KH1 ...

For a long time, I assumed that in every world, time floats differently. So, while in Traverse Town many years have passed since the FF VIII world has been destroyed, on Destiny’s Island it just happened a few days ago.

That could explain, why Naminé aged between CoM and KH2, but Xemnas still looks like Xehanort, even though that Nobody incident took place ten years before KH2 - time floats normally in Castle Oblivion, but in TWTNW, there is no time at all. (And it could be a reason why Zexion doesn’t look older than twenty-ish.)

But, yeah ... even though I like my theory, I doubt that’s what the creators thought of ... ^^”

(And word on the plot hole thing ...)

Hmm...actually, in KH-verse, it's stated that Cid, Aerith, Yuffie, and Leon were from Hollow Bastion, not their respective FF worlds, meaning they were born and raised in such places. In KH-verse, you could probably assume that that the FF worlds don't even exist.

So, no, it's not a plot hole. =D Heck, Leon's twenty-five in KH, and he was seventeen in FFVIII. That alone would contradict canon, as Leon lived in Traverse Town for nine years prior to Sora's arrival. Leon was sixteen when Hollow Bastion went poof, and in FF-verse, he was seventeen while running around and randomly falling in love with Rinoa.

There's plenty of other plot holes for us to pick at. Like Cloud. KHII implies that he's from another world, yet he obviously has a connection with the folks from Hollow Bastion. It's impossible for him to have traveled between worlds since travel between worlds was impossible until the Heartless invaded and broke the barriers between them. So, where is Cloud from? How did he get to where he is? What does Sephiroth have to do with
