Thanks for commenting! I also adore Ginger Rogers, which is why so many of her movies are on my list. I'm really glad that she's star of the month; this will give me an opportunity to see more of her movies.

I've only seen a handful of the Fred and Ginger movies, but I adored The Gay Divorcee. And Manhattan Melodrama, It Happened One Night and The Thin Man are both great movies.

I haven't seen the other six films on your list! I need to track down more pre-code movies.

You should! Pre-code movies are such fun. All the ones on my list I saw on TCM, so they should show them again.

Unfortunately the Australian version of TCM is very much inferior to the US version, and they rarely show pre-code movies. They seem to have a library of about two dozen films and they just endlessly recycle them. I think they've screened Mrs Miniver four times a week every week for the past ten years!

And there are virtually no pre-code movies available on DVD here. None of the pre-code boxed sets has ever been released here. The idea of region coding seems to be to make sure nobody outside the US gets to watch movies other than summer blockbusters.

Aw, that sucks. I can't imagine what my life would be like without TCM. Maybe some of these movies are on the internet?

Great list! I adore numbers 1, 3, 4, and 5 and would love to see 9, 7, and 6. "Bright Eyes" may be my favorite Shirley Temple movie. I have a soft spot for her, even though I typically prefer less saccharine kids. ;-)

I think that everyone has a soft spot for Shirley!

Okay for some reason I actually really like "let's knock knees". I don't know why, it's just so random, has no exposition or segue whatsoever, but is so entertaining.

Wow, you're the first person I've ever talked to that actually likes that number. As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing about that scene is Betty Grable.

I dunno, it's just so awkwardly hilarious to me.

I suppose it is funny, in that out of the blue, what-the-heck-is-this sort of way.
