Just been there, except that I knew that "Mommy!!!" would just make me feel worse. (Yeah, mommy's like that.) But being in unbearable pain, and still worrying about being accused of drug-seeking behavior, is way too familiar.

The only times I've had to use this scale, the cause has been unarguably clear, so drugs happen pretty quickly with no BS accusations.

Yeah, when I had the kidney stone, the nurse herself started with something like, "So, on a scale of 1-10, this is a 10?" And I got the good drugs just as soon as they'd finished what seemed like interminable intake procedures. But I was still afraid to suggest that they move the intake procedures along and give me morphine now, for fear that someone's diagnosis of "drug seeking behavior" would cause me not to get the drugs at all.
