Sorry to interject, but I had this same convo with my dentist! Except he quoted stress, not nightmares. I don't have canines anymore; I ground(ed?) them away long ago.

Because of my bite, my second premolars and first and second molars suffer when I clench and grind. It's not too bad, but it did push my second molars into my thirds (my wisdoms) when I was younger, impacting them. They had to remove a piece of my jaw on the lower right side.

This was a military ortho; apparently a good number of military kids have nightmares, related to the stress of having service parents. Well, that's something they're always on the lookout for, anyway.

So... Grinder unite? *g*
