Ooh, good choices on the film front! I thoroughly enjoyed Brave, and picked it up as soon as it arrived on the iTunes store. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel I haven't yet, simply because I'm not sure how often I'll want to rewatch it - but it's certainly a production I can highly recommend, especially with such an outstanding cast. (Apparently, there's a sequel in the works, though I haven't been following its development)
Chocolate's something I'm now mostly enjoying only on the diet day off, generally Saturdays. Not a big problem, as I'm more prone to savory snacking than sweet, and it's easy to replace chocolate with a nice, big, tangy Granny Smith. =:9
Similarly pizza, of course. That I do miss rather more, though it's still an option, if made at home - but anything ordered in means around 200-250 calories a slice, and that's not a viable option with a target of around 1100 calories/day. =:/ Still, the weight's going down, which is what really matters. ^_^
I quite enjoyed Best Exotic Marigold Hotel... it was pretty movie, and once again stoked the fires of visiting India with that mix of "that's amazing" and "I don't think I could handle that"! I heard some people were put off by the pace, but I don't mind a movie that takes its time. It seemed very appropriate.
"Diet day off" sounds like an interesting motif. I'm probably going to get back on the wagon with some form of sustainable diet. I find calorie counting works the best for me simply because the information is so readily available... where I tend to fall down is the lack of planning that could help me meet my goals!
1100 calories a day seems pretty ambitious! I guess the big thing is if you find doing it is sustainable and healthy, then keep on doing what works.
Brave is an interesting movie. I would come right out and say that I thought it was quite good, but I can't quite bring myself to do that. I would not say that it is bad, or even mediocre. It's something else... I think the movie is actually quite different from other Pixar movies and that my brain has a difficult time reconciling it.
That being said, I definitely do think about it a fair bit, which to me says there's something in it that makes my brainium want to see it again... and having seen it a couple times now, there are a lot of little details in the background that reward the re-watching.
Visually, the movie is pretty amazing with a few scenes (especially of a running stream) that make you pause as they look almost hyper-real. Oh, and if you like lots of red hair, this is definitely a movie for you!
As an aside, I hope you're doing alright after the blood incident the other day. I'm sorry to hear about your tooth.
Thanks. The photo Lucy took is hysterical. The scary part is my BP is 110/70 and blood-sugar reading is 98. For all intensive purposes, the statistics state that I am the poster-child of a NORMAL person in optimal health.
Surprisingly the broken tooth is not that sensitive. It does makes its presence known when air or cold liquids interact. The biggest problem is the bizarre feeling when your body knows something is missing.
We found the missing tooth. We placed in a baggie and will bring it to my dentist in a bag of ice to be reattached.
Also there is a scratch in the back windshield were the two did battle. The tooth is easy to repair. The windshield is just annoying.
You know, I'm probably going to have nightmares about teeth hitting windshields. Though it is a testament to your enamel that you scratched the windshield.
I am also glad that you survived your car-flight of '89. The way the brain tries to comprehend stuff that "just doesn't fit" is always interesting to me, and I'm glad you lived to tell it!
