By the end of yesterday I had successfully catalogued all my and Mandy's vacation photos.  It was a bit of an undertaking, but I find having them tagged simplifies things so much that the effort is worth it ( Read more... )

That is a lot of photos. It probably would be less if you were using film.

When Morgi photographs one of our displays, we usually go through four to six rolls of film in fifteen minutes. For every good photo, one needs to go through about fifteen frames.

Go luck with volunteering at the local zoo. Morgi would probably drive there if you could promise she could pet one of the big kitties.

Definitely less photos if I was shooting film, that's for sure. That was part of my reason for changing to digital... during my Australian vacation I spent over $300 in photo developing (not certain how many exposures I did ( ... )

Disney's fireworks could be interesting or they could be totally lame. From what I have seen in the past, they try to create a single scene separated by time. This approach works well for indoor or theatrical displays, but not for aerial shows. Fireworks show should be alive and in constant motion. Scenes are created over time and are truly represented by 35mm film with the operator controlling the shutter with a bulb.

I think you're most likely right about Disney doing the "separate scene" motif, but I also think that there is more to it than that.

When we were watching the show from our balcony there were fireworks that went off high up in the air, but to the right of that were a separate set of lower fireworks. I thought it was sort've an odd set-up, but Amanda believed that the fireworks are the culmination of a show projected on water jets. If you're in the park watching the water show, then all the fireworks line up... though they may be more as accents to the main show that just a fireworks show itself.

At least that's her theory.

Of course, people were staking out viewing areas for this 3 hours in advance so we chose to view the fireworks alone from our suite.

Being lazy is still rewarding!
