Weed Removal

Do you have "curbside" pickup of refuse etc? If so, do you have room to put some of the weeds in there and it is ok with your trash company?

A friend has no green pickup, but can put yard waste in the regular refuse can to make it easier to lower their risk of fire. He also uses fine salt as way to keep weeds off his property line because his neighbor is an asshat and will not trim weeds despite the fire danger. Sprinkle the salt on the weeds or desired area of weed free locations, add some water, most will not grow. He tried doing a salt bath, but often the water and salt did not mix well enough, leaving some weeds over salted and some weeds "watered" instead of killed. He found a 50lb bag of mix & fine salt from TSC for $8. As long as you don't have any plants nearby you want to maintain, this should work.

We can and have put yard trimmings in our ordinary garbage pickup, but we're not fussed about eventually burning it. The area you see isn't even our property; we don't own that vacant lot, but we clear a defensible area along the fence, and we pile the debris on that lot away from our fence.
