Safety Advice from Bear

Jun 25, 2014 20:01

As travelswithkuma gets over his annual bath, I found some good safety advice that I'm sure he would approve of. The poster reads (in Russian), "Don't Walk on Fish."

This poster was in a collection of Soviet-era safety posters, some of which are pretty scary.

"Walking On Fish" is now the title of my searing political memoir. Thank you for this.

These poster were necessary as Russian workers during Soviet times had terrible work and safety habits.

But they could never put up most important commandment: Stay off the vodka while at work. Everyone guzzled. It was how they endured the tedium of their lives.

I worked in the steel industry for 12 years (at a desk job, at a mill that took safety very seriously, thankfully) and can attest that more of those posters than you would want to know address things that still happen today.

Watch out for buffers!
I've never been a fan of buffers anyway.
