Last Day in London

Today I did a bit of tourism, seeing things I doubt I would have sought out on my own if I hadn't been suggested to see them, including the Old Operating Theatre and the Cheapside Hoard Exhibit at the Museum of London. For dinner, I had another exciting expedition, this time to Archipelago (website under reconstruction) where I had zebra and ( Read more... )

Oh, gosh, there are *masses* of small random museums in London! I should have remembered that you like them as much as (if not necessarily for the same reasons as!) I do. I could have sent you to the Tea & Coffee Museum, or the Font Museum, or to New London Architecture, or Dr Johnson's, or the Brunel, or.... Damn. Next time! Probably not the Fan Museum, though: fascinating as it is, it might have got your hopes up!

(It's a bit like those books I've heard of, that describe Things To See Near Major American Roads. Most of them are giant balls of string, but lots of them are interesting and London has lots of that sort of thing.)

Good luck sleeping. Don't envy you at all!

Oh, that's okay. I wouldn't have had time to see anything else yesterday anyway. I ended up walking my feet off as it was. And if Lisa figures out a way to come to Worldcon next year, the things she wants to see will use up all of the tourism days we have booked in any event. But thanks for the thought!

I've plumped down the dosh for extra-legroom-economy on a transatlantic flight and it was SO WORTH IT.

And I have *very* short little legs.

I hope it works out for you!

I have enough United miles that according to their award charts, I should be able to get a business-class upgrade from coach (sometimes with an additional co-payment); however, anytime I ever try to price such a ticket online, it tells me that upgrades are not available for that flight. I'm going to have to call United and ask them whether I'm asking their web site the wrong question or whether they've simply made no upgrades available SFO-LHR no matter how far ahead you book.
