more food sensitivity bullshit

so it seems that I have a problem with fermented food. I've known it for a long time, but the effects are starting to get on my nerves. Let's look at what foods are under that category, shall we? We shall ( Read more... )

I did that elimination diet for about 2 months and I felt so much better afterward. Do a google search of the candida diet (there's a website called the whole food approach that has a great list).
After going on that for a few months, I was able to eat normally again without having any weird sensitivities. Try it. It might help. It really saved my life as everything at the time was messing with me.

I went on a REALLY mild version of it a couple of years ago: no sugar, no dairy, plus I used bentonite clay and psyllium husks to absorb and push out other toxins. It really helped a lot, but that's because I was so messed up that *anything* would have helped!

You're probably right that I need to go on the proper diet. Ugh. I don't want to give up peanuts and tomatoes (salsa)!!! (but I rely too heavily on them right now, so I'm probably setting myself up for developing sensitivities to them. argh.

I'll take a look at the diet soon -- I've seen that site, so I vaguely recall how much better it was than other candida sites.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not going to start on it Right Away, but soon. My mother will be visiting in a month. She doesn't understand any of this food business and I don't want to inflict any of it on her. Nor N's relatives, whom we'll be visiting at the end of this month.

Argh.

But thanks. :)

p.s. It's super hard to be on and was one of the toughest things I had to do but it really was worth the initial suffering. Good luck!

ok, I took a look at the food list and, after feeling really disheartened, am going to slowly incorporate all the limitations/new additions to my diet. I can't do an all or nothing change with the baby around -- it's too stressful. And I can't do the full detox, since I'm nursing and whatever toxins my body gets rid of will go straight into him, which is not good.

I did the questionnaire and am happy that my score is WAY lower than it was the first time I did it a few years ago: I'm in the mild range. yippee!

Oh that's good news. I was off the chart and so it really helped. I didn't do any detox at all - I just eliminated the bad stuff and ate a lot more veggies.
The best thing to do is to focus on what you can eat. Grab the green and orange food lists and go nuts. This list is actually new and there are a lot more good things to eat on here than the one I did 5 years ago.

No, but I don't have any symptoms of celiac. My wheat sensitivity stops at wheat (as opposed to my being sensitive to all glutinous grains) and the symptoms of it are neurological and histaminic, not intestinal.

my mom is in a similar situation food wise. she went and saw an allergist (but not your typical scratch test allergist ... more like a holistic allergist or something.)and there was a big ol' NO list and a big ol' sometimes list and a wee YES list. I'm scared to go...ignorance is bliss.

once again, I wish we lived closer! I'm definitely doing an elimination diet once the move is over. we could eat organic greens and lemon juice together. oh, and don't forget about the thrive diet book. he uses balsamic vinegar in some of his stuff, but i think that might be the only thing you can't eat (oh, and tomatoes)

you have to have to read a new earth. it won't cure your food stuff, but it will help "deal" with it. you are spending so much energy on being angry about it. you need that energy for happy good things. *hug*

I understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate that. But please understand that an initial flare of exasperation and frustration when faced with a sucky situation is a perfectly normal and perfectly acceptable and healthy reaction. My being able to write about it here means that I divest myself of said negativity so that I don't hold it in and dwell on it. I'm really not spending much energy being angry at all, regardless of how it appears here or with any other LJ post I make. Journaling helps keep me sane: I get out all the bad stuff here so that I don't have to keep it in my head like a tape loop of negativity.

Thank you for the reminder, though. :)

ahh, but thats where the philosophies of "a new earth" comes in. you don't even need to react at all. no tape.

(not that i'm any better than you for all the reading i've done *snerk*)

we should talk about it...my splaining here would take too long.

we mostly ever write/rant about the bad stuff on the lj. so thats all the readers get.

are you free next saturday? I'm having a yard sale and need help for a bit. mostly morning for set up. i just need some one to watch the stuff while i set up. jason *may* be here...

DUDE! aidan is almost 1!
