Oh, and I should add, if you ask for the breast pump, you should probably specify that you don't need any of the additional bottle sets, etc. All you need is the pump and a box of disposable liners, since the pump itself comes with a bottle or two - the pump screws onto the bottle and pumps the milk directly into the bottle. For ease of freezing, just put a plastic liner into the bottle before you start pumping (rather than pouring from the bottle into the liner, because the more you transfer milk from one container to another, it increases risk of germs). Then the milk-filled liner can just go straight into the freezer. (I would advise liners designed for freezers, since the generic ones can break. Although you can just double-bag the generics, or put it inside a ziploc baggie while it freezes, so it won't make a mess if it breaks during freezing.)

re breast pumps:

If Lynx is going to attempt inducing lactation, which breast pump would you then recommend if there were only one to be purchased between the two of us?

And yes, I do appreciate the suggestions. The registry is an organic sort of thing and we're definitely willing to add things on as necessary. Hadn't gotten to many of the smaller things like the changing pads and hooded towels, but I did have those in mind.

For inducing lactation, an electric pump (like the Pump in Style) is going to be what you want; however, since you're going to have actual babies there, it's probably unnecessary (that'd be more for, say, adoptive mamas who are trying to induce lactation before the baby comes home with them; with you there to nurse, obviously there's no time rush to have Lynna lactating before the babies arrive, and after the babies are here, they can comfort-suck on her, or she can use an SNS, and that will provide plenty of stimulation). So that being the case, I'd still recommend the Avent Isis ( ... )

Yay! And you got MORE baby stuff for us? Sheesh! I think we've gotten more from you than from anyone else!!

Also, thank you VERY MUCH for the books! They were a very welcome surprise. Now I have books coming out of my ears and don't know where to begin!

I don't know ... a lot of that stuff looks awfully useful. I only give frivolous gifts. ;)

Hey, most of the stuff I added to the list was frivolous. Like the gothy baby t-shirts with bats and gargoyles on them. :-)

Is the registry/list in lieu of a babies shower? ...or are you thinking of maybe having one.

Cheers Wolf

i think plans for a showery sort of thing have already been undertaken. but I know nothing.

and a baby registry is handy for people who want to give us stuff, like friends and family. that way, they don't have to ask us what we want or get us stuff we don't need. it is completely separate from baby showers.
