How to have a sensual, drug-free birth

Tobacco and alcohol 'are more dangerous than LSD'

It's a newspaper after my own heart. *swoon*
(I think these two articles are pretty much my only experience with The Independent, so it's not like I have a huge sample from which to properly assess whether I totally dig them or not, but so far, so good.)

birth, reading, drugs

Actually, I take some umbrage with that second article -- while I agree about alcohol and tabacco being more dangerous than they are ranked, and pot certainly not being as dangerous as either, ecstacy is imo, not one of the least harmful drugs! Far from it... in terms of longterm mental health, X is just about the worst thing you can do for your seratonin levels ( ... )

But, as the child of hippies, I've pretty much stayed away from all of that myself.

I'm with you on that one. Nothing takes the appeal out of doing drugs like hearing drug stories from your parents. :-)

Or worse, remembering (or being told about) the stories that happened in your early childhood!

Ecstasy is not the same as MDMA. MDMA is the pure form, which is likely what your mother may have been getting; ecstasy is the street form that is usually cut with some sort of cocktail of amphetamines. The pure form, undoubtedly, would have more potential to cause irreversible damage to one's ability to functionally produce serotonin ( ... )

I can't say I've ever had someon on X try to pick a fight with me. I think of alcohol as a much more socially dangerous drug.

Socially dangerous? Most definitely. Long-term negative effects? Alcohol takes the cake on that one, too. Short-term effects? Probably, though E gets more bad press because it's newer. Alcohol's been around for several thousand years... The stupid things one does while drunk or the negative physical effects of alcohol are simply not news. Over-heating at a club/rave, dehydrating, or over-hydrating due to E usage IS news, so it gets more bad press.

i've heard some women mention birth as sexual before, but then most of them were into fisting. I suspect a connection.

So...will you be using a magicwand during birth then?

magic wands scare me. I do not own one, nor do I ever want to. clitoral stimulation does not necessarily make birth more sexual; it can, but it doesn't have to. it's no different than giving yourself an orgasm in order to diminish the negative effect of menstrual cramps. for me, that's much more a means to an end than anything else. like popping some OTC pain meds, except using your body's own drugs, which are far more effective and long-lasting.

there is likely a connection between enjoying fisting and experiencing birth as sexual; however, one does not equal the other. it is not an 'if A, then B' or 'if not A, then not B' sort of scenario. there are too many factors to be considered with each birth that can enhance or detract from its inherent sexual nature.
