I took a look at the calendar last night and cross referenced it with my pill pack and I have discovered that next Thursday will be my last day on the pill. This means that for the next three months, I will be flushing excess hormones from my body in preparation for trying to conceive ( Read more... )

Also, is it a bad idea to conceive right after you come off the Pill? Do you just use condoms in the meantime to make sure that you don't? Forgive my ignorance; since I don't want kids myself, I don't know very much about the prenatal health issues.

It's not a great idea to do so. It's best to give your body a chance to return to baseline (whatever that means for whatever your situation is). For me, that means no extra hormones, a chance for my body to have 2-3 regular periods, and becoming polyfidelitous for this period and for the ensuing pregnancy. Also, just generally taking better care of myself and getting into that "pre-pregnancy" frame of mind that was touched on in that crazy-assed article you linked to a bit ago.

And yes, condoms it is. bleh. but better that than total abstinance, yes? yes.

This blows my mind. Nosy question: how does this affect plans for work? Will you work from home, or work until the birth?

Right now, I'm working to get L a little more on top of things. We'll see where that leads, whether that means staying on doing this full-time or what. Not certain, exactly.
