No, see, I'm only Laurell Hamilton if I actually, y'know, buy the stuff instead of just thinking about it. ;) LOL.
I'd say it's worth seeing. Just...if you've read the books, don't be too attached to stuff happening just like the books. There's a major chronological shuffling as well.
Also, and mind you I like Kate Bush, but the lyrics to her little song at the end felt a little heavy-handed. "OH HAI, let me sing you the whole plot."
OMG, so true. That song was the worst. For a good half an hour after the movie, my friends and I would just break out into a chorus of "Lyraaaaaa, telling Iorek she knows where is armor is so that he'll help her rescue the children the gobblers took. Lyraaaaaa running away from Mrs. Coulter and hiding behind boxes in an alleyway".
"two worlds collide around her," and I turned to D. and said, "Except they don't, because THEY CUT OFF THE END OF THE STORY."
I could not believe that they ended the movie there! Especially since they showed the scenes that they cut out in numerous trailers for the movie! I was so busy rolling my eyes are Lyra's little speech and giggling at the idea that Serafina flew away because she was all like "11 year old girls pontificating? I'm outtie!" that when the movie ended I was like "Whaaaa?"
Movie was very pretty and well-acted; Lyra, Mrs. Coulter

*snorts coffee* YES OMG.
Hopefully they'll tack those scenes onto the second movie and make it work. If they leave that out entirely and make Asriel all saintly, I might have to smite them.
Yes, despite everything I still want to go see that movie. Maybe it'll be better auf Deutsch, so I won't really know exactly what's happening. It sounds from reviews that they just took the last 100 pages or so of the Golden Compass and *riiiiiiiip*.
LOL, I have done c) and d) before, thankfully common sense pervaded before I got to the cashier. :>
I haven't read the books and so the movie was a little confusing. The person I saw it with assured me that that wasn't the way the book had ended, so...I don't know, I may give in and read the book. But the film put me off a little. :P
