*DYES* and is dead

My hair needed to be a little more blond than it is, so I went to get a little color done. I did this a couple of years ago, and it was a fiasco because the lady only did highlights, and she bleached too much, so I ended up having white hair with VERY visible dark roots. Last year before Dragon Con, I tried dyeing my own hair red using a semi-permanent color. I had dyed my hair many times before, but never red and never a semi-perm. The roots came out fire engine red, the ends were bubble gum pink, and the middle took no color at all. This was all very funny until I couldn't strip it out of my hair!

If you want to try and strip it yourself, use dish detergent to wash your hair. Yes, I mean Dawn or Joy--they have no conditioning agents. And I mean wash it like 20 times, letting the detergent soak on it. I stripped my own hair, because it's expensive to have done at a salon, and then went to a stylist and had her color a darker red over it. The key is to strip while the hair is still open from the first color. After 24-48 hours, your hair will "close" and the color will be much harder to get out. You can find this info if you look on the net. Just my hard-won experience, I hope you get it fixed!

(late, but I'll correct soon with a more detailed email...)
I know it won't make you feel any better now, but I hadn't seen you for 2 years and didn't think your hair looked strawberry blonde, or that "bad". I thought you looked reasonable. Then again, I don't remember on which day of the con I ran into you (at this point, it's been 4 months).

The hair was fixed again by Con time, thankfully. I had to actually Dye it back to NEAR the original color the next weekend though, because I had a meeting with my superiors in Little Rock, AK, and I couldn't show up with DracoMalfoy hair!

BTW: Mel and I LURRRRVE Ouran Host Club as well. Actually met the voice actors Vic and Travis at Anime Weekend Atlanta and they signed her wheelchair!
