I hadn't heard of the Golden Pot before, but I like the sound of it. I was surprised by how cheerful the plot is, seeing I mainly associated Hoffman with the Sandman.

Your family sounds a lot like mine, I always used to get teased a school because all my christmas presents were books. The other kids were showing off their new bikes and dresses and I was swooning over my new (I don't know the word here) translation/original text of the Odyssey.

The Golden Pot is awesome. I borrowed it from a classmate once YEARS ago in 12th grade, and my mother apparently remembered my excited gushing about it. I mean, seriously:

The elderberry bush shifted and spoke: "You lay in my shadows, my perfume surrounded you, but you did not understand. My scent is my speech, when love kindles it."

The evening breeze passed by and spoke: "I have caressed your temples, but you did not understand. My breath is my speech, when love kindles it."

The sun broke through the clouds and the light burned as with words: "I bathed you in gold and fire, but you did not understand me. My warmth is my speech, when love kindles it."

Seeriously. Also, you remind me that I need to get MAH MYTH BOOKS BACK. I once loaned someone my huge-ass compendium of greek mythology and now I don't have it :<< WHAT IF SOMEONE COMES AND ASKS ABOUT ANTIOPE HUH. WHAT DO I DO THEN.
