Thanks. I'm not sure about posting this to the competition as yet, because it disturbs me.

The beating part is unfortunately based on something that happened down here this last week. Some 12 year old was posting pictures of herself half-naked on Facebook. Her mother beat her, and posted the punishment on Facebook as well.

People are defending her actions, because the girl was a problem child and she'd tried everything else, or condemning her. The daughter also defended her mother admitting she was causing problems.

I do believe that the mother is trying to do the best she can to raise her children in the absence of a father, but the people saying the daughter looked for sixty lashes...it got me wondering what they would have considered too much.

That's like the people defending Michael Pearl for the abusive child-"training" advice he's given that's resulted in at least three deaths that I know about. Just...infuriates me.
