1. I was inexplicably saddened to hear that Andrew Wyeth died today at age 91. The inexplicable part was largely because, well, I thought he died about 5 years ago. I love his work, even if he was getting it on with the neighbor-lady secretive about his Helga paintings when he made them, to the point of not telling his wife until he had over 200 nude sketches and paintings completed over, like, a decade.
2. S still has mono. Also, her skin is starting to look a wee bit darker, so I am on the lookout for signs of jaundice, which can go with a form of hepatitis that can be associated with said disease. Poor girlie. Barring something like a miracle, I don't see her returning to school at all next week. But at least we qualify for home visits from teachers, so she can (hopefully) start to catch up at least a little on what she's been missing.
3. I have been giggling, chuckling and even chortling whilst working on the gnomes this week. Favorite word used in that ms this week? Hoosegow. Turns out to be from a Mexican-Spanish word, juzgao, which comes from the Spanish juzgado, which is related to the verb, juzgar, "to judge." I love learning stuff like that - and all because I had to look up the proper spelling.
4. I have been chortling, chuckling, and even guffawing whilst working on my sooper sekrit project this week, in part because I've written three filk songs related to The Lord of the Rings. Bonus points of the nerdy variety to you if you know what a filk is without looking it up. An extra five bonus points if you know the etymology of the word "filk." And no, I'm not telling you what the sooper sekrit project is. Yet.
5. I simply must get my hands on Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, the DVD, because
Mother Reader says the musical commentary rocks.
A final thing? Thank you to
jeannineatkins for awarding me the Premio Dardos award. It was terribly kind of you, Jeannine.
