Last weekend was Strategicon: Gateway. I found out that each of the strategicon conventions has a different gaming emphasis. Gateway's is apparently board games, and I cant help but think of it as "Board games are a Gateway game": They get you to come to a convention based on board games and then introduce you to all the other kinds of games out ( Read more... )

The Sunday afternoon game was my first time running Mage tabletop (I've played/run it online for several years, and played a couple of tabletop games at the con). I'm sorry it didn't go better, and would honestly appreciate any advice you're willing to offer on how to fix it ( ... )

Hi welcome to my journal! I hope I didn't offend you by saying what i felt of the game. I honestly think I may have viewed the Mage game differently in retrospect if i'd had a better experience with my evening game, but that sort of thing taints the day and makes you wish you weren't born ( ... )

No problem. I felt bad for a bit, but I got over it. And your advice is definitely helpful.

On another note, you mentioned phasing out Requiem and Awakening, but only gave a specific reason for Requiem. Is Awakening basically the same thing, or are there other issues? I was leaning toward getting involved with it, as I've never had quite the same intuitive grasp of any of the other lines.
