Low-key weekend

I didn't engage in many productive tasks this weekend -- actually, I lost ground when I lost a nearly-done NPC writeup to an inconvenient computer shutdown, only partially offset by ordering some props I'd been flailing about -- but I got some useful practice time in, and caught up on sleep ( Read more... )

Woo! Progress on the biking front! :-)
The claw marks on the calves sound a bit annoying. Would it be worthwhile to you to wear something on your lower leg?

That chain does sound like it needs more cleaning, the sort of which might involve taking apart each link. I bow to your willingness to do your own bike maintenance. I wouldn't even take off the chain myself on purpose.

Noooooooo, I didn't take the chain off. That's what I don't want to do. :} I just attacked it with clean rags and chain lube and tried to get the sand out.

Along with the bike, I acquired (on strong recommendation) Zinn & The Art of Road Bike Maintenance, which is very encouraging on the "you can learn to take care of your bike" front, though I haven't read even a decent bite of it yet.

It would probably be clever to cover my legs, but given the weather and the sweating, I'm not psyched for more clothes. Also, I don't really want to rip up pants on the chain & gears at least until I've bought more pants like I've been meaning to do for ages now.

I don't even see how my "No pink" and "no clunky-soled shoes" criteria are relevant to pants! (But mostly I haven't made shopping time.)
