http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=USB+IDE&x=0&y=0 -- USB-to-IDE thingies. Basically, external USB HDs, without enclosures. I've got one which I use sometimes for my PS2 HD backup and for work, sometimes.

Yeah, I'm probably just going to get an enclosure... what else am I supposed to do with the extra PATA drives I have kicking around anyway?

Though now that I'm doing motherboard research, I realize how out of touch I am with technology nowadays.

buy a PS2, with a network adapter, get HDLoader on a memory card, an old PS1/X game, and put your PS2 games onto the harddrive for faster game-load times (notorious with EA Games, i.e. Burnout 3 and SSX3, but even Disgaea benefits)?

You could have all the PS2 DDRs ever...and the new Twinkle Star Sprites...and...and...

Yeah, there's very little I do with a PATA HD anymore. I only use one at home (for my PS2)...and maybe two more in my parents' office machine (my old Dell).
