I wonder why Dean. I mean, if Alastair really tortured John, Heaven didn't seem to care much. So why did Heaven cared when he tortured Dean? I mean, they couldn't have known that John wouldn't break and Dean would.
Also, I think that Castiel is simply holding back. He's unsure of himself at the moment and it's affecting his performance. But boy, I want to see him really pissed!
Two possible explanations, if Alaistair was telling the truth about John, are either John wasn't righteous enough (I'd buy that, Dean is a better person by far), or there was something different about Dean's situation.
Yeah, but still. I'd love to see him fighting seriously.
That was really cool! Sam is really stepping up as the Boy King.
Honestly, I fear they are just going to have to leave Dean to us fangirls so we can feed him lots of pie and hug him all the time, because dude... just dude.
I did love finally seeing Ruby as something other than that whole "I'm good, now. No, honest!". That annoyed me. I like her better when she's evil and totally controlling Sam without him being aware of it. *coughs*
Also, I believe it was Refur who pointed out how this episode was totally a SPN spin-off a la Angel. In any case, Castiel, yay!
Oh, the thing with John. I knew something felt off about it, and now you've vocalised it, so there.
One of the finest points of this episode, for me, was finally raising the question of a god and his role in this little Apocalypse thing. I think Kripke goes for the Gaiman approach of Maybe He's There, Maybe He's Not, Don't Ask His Operatives; They're Just Here to Clean Up (I think Uriel said angrily, "You've never even seen him!"). Now that's the sort of insight-inspiring bit of canon that keeps me going with SPN. I want to know if any angel is sure there is a god. Or any demon.
That, and the fact that I just KNEW there would be Lucifer/Castiel, asdkjhgfg.
Also, as SG pointed out, John waltzed out of Hell when it got opened. How would he able to do that, if he was on the rack?
I think so, yes. SPN has always been about evil being real and good requiring much work. Anna said only four angels have ever seen god, and Uriel evidently is not one of them.
I went in expecting a very solid storyline, of course, but what I actually saw rocked my socks off. That movie rocked me out of my socks. The story alone, but also the visuals were flawless, the casting was superb (Adrian, the fabulous genius, Dan, a superhero dork, Rorschach, Laurie, the Comedian!), there are no words.

I loved Sam's "Miracle! Now!"

Sam doesn't seem to be aware of how she's playing him, and that is scary!

Lucifer/Castiel is begging for it, I know!
