Okay, don't...do that to yourself. You guys were totally into each other. He just had to hunt down that thing he's always hunting down, right? It'll be okay, dude. You should just...spend more time with your friends. And you family, if you actually like them. Not everybody does. Their own families, I mean. Not yours specifically.

Wanting to spend time with my family might be a shock to their systems. My daughter has her work but mother might just have a heart attack, heh.
I'm just trying to get things back on track. It's not a big deal.

So, you know, just...spend more time with your friends. And if you ever get...tired of working as a detective or whatever, you can always, uh, come work for us. We can always use more bodyguards. You'd get the opportunity to shoot people...pretty often.

I've been an Inspector all my life. It would be kind of hard to just give up. And by kind of, I mean like amputating an arm hard. I'd really rather retire completely than give up on what I am.

I don't really like shooting people, either. I barely ever use my gun. I prefer disarming people in any way possible than resorting to firing on them.

She's a CSI in a small department in Tokyo.

I had her pretty young. But how old do you think I am?

I can't say I really know much about what went on since this appears to have been before my arrival, but you shouldn't let things that are beyond your control get to you. Just focus on what you can control and trust the rest to God, fate, or whatever.

God, fate, or whatever has always seemed to have a really cruel sense of humor. I understand the sentiment, though, and thanks. But really, I'd like to have the control instead, so that's what I'm working for.

... how big of a background check does getting into law enforcement require?

It is. N-not that I think my work is merely a distraction, of course. But it can be something more productive to get your mind into.

You'd be surprised how lenient they can be. Standards aren't exactly...tip-top shape, because surprisingly or not, there aren't many people who'd willingly take a bullet for someone trying to steal a TV.
