COO COO PIGEONS COO

There seem to be an awful lot of pigeons about today. They blanket the courtyards and pathways, cooing and fidgeting and fighting. They’re as flighty as ever, wheeling away in great flocks as soon as anyone approaches. All but the odd one or two, who hop on the spot half-heartedly, or else fly in a circle and quickly land again ( Read more... )

Sollux is really not supposed to be out and about much, or that's what he keeps being told, but he honestly has trouble caring. He was headed to the lake again, but apparently the pigeons are needy today.

He pauses and peers at one. "What?"

The pigeon closest to him stops and stares.

It coos softly, ever watching with those wide, unblinking eyes.

Sollux stares back at it for a moment before moving closer. This bird had some sort of backpack, so he kneels down and goes to retrive what's inside.

It doesn't move while he goes for the canister, merely cooing softly while it stands still. Inside the canister is a note.

It was impossible to ignore the flock of birds descending on the keep. Normally, he would have avoided them, considering the last time something had invaded the place, everything had gone badly. But once he'd sighted the capsules on the creatures' backs through his scope...

... The curiosity was a little bit too much to resist.

So, Garrus ended up stalking through the birds, aiming to grab for the nearest, capsule-bearing critter.

Garrus' aim was true: one of the birds was easily snatched into his grasp. It let out a squawk as it was grabbed, then pecked at his hand in protest.

"Hah!"

It could peck at his hand all it liked. That was the advantage of the armored gloves. He shifted it in his grip, fiddling with the capsule until he could get it open.

It makes another noise - this time not a coo, but a sound of distress. Still, it's not strong enough to wrench itself out of Garrus' hand, and the canister comes open quite easily. Inside, there is a small scroll of paper.

A ball of fluff inched up her snout. Moonie sneezed a gout of flame and woke from her nap to see the horde of pigeons filling the courtyard.

She closed her eyes in disgust, ready to ignore the lowborn flyers. Her ribs expanded in the huge amount of air she breathed and shrank again when it was let out in a sigh. The fire-breather would have been ready and content to sleep then and there had her belly not gurgled warningly of hunger. Had she human lips, they would have pursed in disgust.

Moonie opened her eyes to watch the birds covering every feasible surface. When one came near, her long neck served well for a snake-like snap of her teeth.

Had she caught herself a feathery snack?

The pigeon sure hopes not.

It flutters back in a panic to get away from the snapping mouth, making a sound as it goes alike to a pigeon scream. Once out of range, it stops and stares back at her.

"Coo coo."

Moonie snarled, aggravated and shamed by her slowness. Uncaring of who or what might be caught in the crossfire, her jaw dropped and heat gathered in the base of her throat. A blast of fire was all the answer she had for 'coo coo'.

The fireball strikes it's target and the bird bursts into flame. There's a scrambled flutter and a painful cry as it tries to flee, but the bird is too far gone.

It hits the ground, still flaming and very much dead. The canister on it's back is burned as well, the fire claiming whatever message was inside as well.

Yuna lets out a small laugh as she walks through and around the mass of pigeons. She had come into the courtyard to clear her head and suddenly, well... this!

Her head might not be clear, but the birds are certainly entertaining.

And one of them is flying straight for her. It seems to be pretty focused on Yuna as a target.

And Yuna is going to move out of the way, because she is not keen on getting STABBED BY A BEAK.

So much for being entertaining. Yuna grabs her staff, in case it (or any of the other birds) try to come at her again.

It slows down as it approaches and lands clumsily in front of her. The bird looks up, cooing softly and stretches it's wings. The canister on it's back is right in range.

Oh? Does he?

The canister-bearing pigeon hops closer, cooing softly.

The pigeon is still as Lucas removes the canister, and once it's free, it starts hopping off.

Lucas is left with a canister and its contents.
