Smiling lightly, Aara's gaze falls to her cupecake once more. "You know... where I am from, I do not believe anyone has ever giving me something before." There's a sort of sad light in her gaze, but her smile is one that shows she has accepted it. "Nothing I didn't need, that is." Like clothing. Which was still something she was truly grateful for

Coughing still--somewhat mortified and worried about Xanth's worry--Aara tries to hold a hand up to motion she will be okay--only her coughing is taking a little bit longer to control than she thought it might.
She forces her coughs a bit, now, trying to get the cupcake out of her lungs. It's somewhat better, now.
Xanth raises his index finger - one moment, please! - and then darts off to grab a cup of punch. He returns a few moments later and holds up the cup for whenever she'll take it.
Smiling lightly even through her coughing spell, Aara thankfully accepts the drink and manages to swallow past whatever was caught in the throat. She breathes slowly now, making sure her lungs were okay, and smiles up at Xanth again.
"Thank you..."
She sees that the frosting is still there, and tilts her head to one side.
"Xanth...you have...blue...above your lips."
She tried to say it as kindly as possible, looking around for something he might be able to clean it off with.
"I'm-- n-not picky. B-But I'm... p-pretty fond of-- m-meat things. A--Any meat." Meat was so expensive, growing up, but it was plentiful on the Elegante. He's grown a taste for savory dishes.
"S--Soups and-- and stews a-are good too. Th-they're, uh, s--something I-I can actually c--cook."
That caught Aara's attention. She grins and her muscles tense excitedly as she attempts to not bounce on her feet and scare Xanth away.
"Do you like lamb? I am really good with cooking lamb. And venison."
She tilts her head slightly. He must be like Kanan, perhaps. Kanan never wished to set foot in the kitchens. Had almost demanded Aara never do so as well. She would forever be thankful he hadn't.
Her eyes widen at that, and she stares in no small amount of disbelief before she finally smiles widely, excitement buzzing through her.
"I should cook lamb for you sometime, then. It's really good! I would be honored to make something for you that you have never before tasted." That, and, she loves cooking. And still hasn't quite been able to make her portion sizes small enough.
Smile lighting up her face in all serenity, Aara slowly shakes her head. "It does not matter how good of a cook you are. What matters is whether you enjoy it. If you like it, and pour thanks and love into what you are doing, then cooking comes more naturally with time."
"Then a-after the-- the festivities d-die down, we-- w-we should-- make s-something." There would be clean-up after the party for a couple of days, surely, but after that then the kitchen would be clear. "They-- th-they don't mind us c-cooking, I-I think, as-- a-as long as we k-keep things, y-you know. Not-- n-not a-- a wreck."
Giggling lightly, Aara nods. She was always very good about cleaning up her messes--especially in the kitchens. She didn't want others complaining about what she did with her spare time, and she didn't want to give Kanan a reason to keep her out of the kitchens. Thankfully, no one in her old clan could ever complain about her meals, so Aara had been pretty certain she would always be allowed to cook.
"I would like that."
Biting her lips for a moment, Aara balances up onto her toes for a moment, then comes back down as she tries to gather her courage.
"Do you think... maybe... you could teach me how to make cupcakes?"
Xanth bites his lip, then glances towards the confections uncertainly. When he looks back to Aara, he's grinning, though it's sort of sheepish.
"I--I-I could-- try? B-Baking wasn't... r-really my-- my thing, but, if you're-- n-not afraid to experim--ment, I-I'm sure there's-- s-some recipes in the... the library."
[Eyes widening in slow awe, Aara smiles beautifully at that piece of news.]
There are recipes in the library?
[It was as if someone had bestowed the world's most treasured knowledge in the palm of her hand.]
I look forward to it!
[See what you did, Xanth? Aara will be cooking non-stop, now. After everything goes down. Hope you are up to trying bits and pieces of everything she makes.....]
"Th-there's-- a lot i-in the-- the library. I-I mean, I, I-I think there is. L-Lots of ins--structional stuff." He's noticed a strange lack of fiction, but he hasn't explored all of it yet. Perhaps it was just kept in another location.
[Aara can't help but smile at that. Her mind was already planning what she would do. Recipes she might find: little treasures. She could make something new every day! A giggle escapes, and she bites her lower lip.]
Maybe there will be cupcake recipes in there no one has ever tried! And I can find recipes with different kinds of meat for you to try! And... I can see what 'brownies' and 'ice cream' tastes like.
[For that was what Zachariah and Bobby had been raving about.]

Laughing only a little self-consciously, Xanth licks his lip and finds a bonus of surprise icing.
"I-I, haha, I guess-- I-I guess I d-do."
Still licking, Xanth seeks a napkin. His question is, thankfully, successful, and he wipes the rest of the icing away.

Maybe she could make it--or learn a few recipes to add to her own mental list.
