My thoughts on the first half of Fringe, NCIS and Smallville's current seasons

Now that the first half of the season has finished for most of the series, I have mixed feelings. With some shows Im terribly dissapointed, with others Im happy.

Fringe
My God, the first half was so freakin good. Everything, the story, the pace and how the characters were developed. The plot about two alternate universes, exploring each one in ( Read more... )

Follow the same approach, Caroline. Trying to not forget all the awsomness of s9, to keep myself hold on to something. Let's hope 2nd half will be better.

Hey, LC! I was waiting for your thoughts ;)

Let's see: Yeah, GG and Emmy total morons... Ana defninitely deserved at list the nomination. Same John Noble, both have been awsome this season playing two characters.

About the ship stuff Im going to disagree with you. For me is kind of refreshing not to have Peter and Olivia involved in triangles, considering most of the shows go that route. Here I've found a very interesting relationship, that doesn't escape from conflict, it has had, a lot this season, but has been beautifully managed, IMO. Plus, if we want to be strict, there was a triangle: Olivia/Peter/AltOlivia.

Im very interested to see were they go from here.

Oh I am not wishing for some cheesy triangle by any means, it's just some shows you know it's about the couple, that TPTB will get them together, so IDK.. a little of the mystery is gone, it's not "will they or won't they?" but just "when?" So when they go all Cheers and Moonlighting dragging out the inevitable, it annoys.

Hard to explain, but few shows or characters make me very shippery. I was just starting to feel that way on Castle, then TPTB zapped it with contrived "other people" nonsense alongside 3rd party propping that bugged me. Trying to think of other shows. Jake 2.0 is one that I did ship the default couple, just liked their chemistry and relationship (even though the show started with a different set-up, kinda triangular). With Fringe, I do see it and feel it and kinda want it.. but at the same time, I just don't "ship" them that intensely. Maybe that's a better explanation?

About Tess sudden redeption, you know, I wasn't waiting any better development, because it's pretty much exactly what TPTB has done with every character that has been in that situation. They mess up things, they say sorry, and everybody moves on. Im talking about Clark, Chloe, Tess, Lana. Lois hasn't had to struggle with the need of redemption, so I don't include her. I would say the character that I feel has been the best developed in that sense is Oliver (and I promise here is not talking my biased love), because we could see an entire arc about Oliver dealing with his mistakes and bad choices. For me every other "redemption" has been unearned.

Clark, Lana, Tess have not struggled but now I have to disagree with you, as boy have Oliver and Chloe. IIRC Chloe spent most of S3 and S4 groveling and begging for forgiveness, struggled and fought through every Jimmy breakup, always caught in the middle, etc. Only time she didn't was the beginning of S9 when TPTB wanted to wash all of that OOC contrived b.s. under the bridge and just forget it. Even then they acted like everything Chloe did in S9 was "wrong" until .. oops it was sorta right, but then they didn't admit it (if that makes sense). It's like every time they showed WT/Chloe as going too far.. it actually helped. And she struggled and sacrificed and worked to earn it, IMO ( ... )

About Chloe, I have to agree that the choices TPTB have made, make her look bad, at list in my eyes. Im talking about the exact same things you mentioned about the kids at the Torch, and in a less degree the gift to Lois (after all she's family, so is more acceptable). But send text messages and not be able to send not even a fog signal to oliver so the poor guy stops suffering how he has been done the entire half of the season? IDK what TPTB was thinking with that move, because at the end they didn't even go further with the Torch kids, so at the end it was completely pointless. What? they used that scene to remind us that chloe is alive?? Like not everyone of us knows that Chloe is alive. Absolutely pointless from every side I try to see it.

You know about the rest, meaning Clark, JLA, Oliver, I pretty much agree with almost everything you said. Oliver will keep being my fav hero on SV, but is painful to see what TPTB has been doing with him this season, in every aspect of him: man and hero.
That for me is unforgivable.

This is where I have to SCREAM at the top of my lungs: THERE IS A PLAN. Can't explain it any other way and with the ridiculousness of the motivations and actions in S8, TPTB are scaring the bejesus out of me. The text, other clues are for us in the audience... so we don't worry about Chloe AND to make it "make sense" that Clark, Oliver and Lois aren't worried or looking for her, or even in contact. Is she supposed to playing dead or not?! Makes ZERO sense ( ... )
