Mr Cee's company attitude to working from home seems sensible and logical. I do find myself thinking that the insistence of certain members of the Westminster government on people 'getting back to their desks and working properly' is based on how little work they would do themselves without a constant stream of civil servants to prod them.
Very true! Although Youngest Cee is now a civil servant and it looks like he'll only ever be required to work two days a week in the office which suits him as it saves so much money travelling on London transport!
I've just written pretty much the same thing about LJ :(
I didn't work from home all that much but I always got more done when I did. It doesn't suit everybody as J used to hate doing it but saving travel time was a huge bonus.
I think it’s good they have said work where you are happiest. I’m glad that they are acknowledging what people would rather do. As Mr Cee’s offices are still in Hammersmith I’m glad he doesn’t have to commute regularly.
I think where to work should be a choice, but I also know people whose mental health has taken a real hit as they live alone and have no family nearby. So wfh is like being in solitary confinement. Some people really appreciate the camaraderie of being part of the "gang in the office" and I think it is sad that their choice often isn't viable.
I totally agree. It’s also hard if you live in a tiny flat as you can’t walk away from the work area. Or if you have small children during school holidays! I do think many places are accepting that a blend of home working and office working is a good idea (although impossible in some sectors!).
