No - but it’s Russian owned so I’m hoping it’s run by people who are anti war and wanting to keep the Govt out of it. However it could be stopped.

Good Grief! I was only thinking of it yesterday - I remember deleting my journal there some years ago as it was constantly sending me spam messages!

I am concerned that as a Russian owned social media site it might disappear. Depends whether it’s noticeable to anyone who cares. I’m just making sure I have a back up as I’d hate to lose all my entries.

Curiouswombat made a recent post about some site that can back up one's LJ to .pdf or Word docs, separated into chapters. It didn't work for me as I have a number of private entries. It crabbed at me about failing at those, but I noticed that it made a good start on backing me up. I just can't be bothered to comb through my LJ and un-private those entries, and they're private for a reason.

Maybe that site she mentioned will work for you.

Yes I’ve done that - it was OK with my private entries but I paid for a package so I could do the whole of the 17 years worth of entries!

I wonder if I've still got an IJ. I'd better check. The DW importer hasn't been working for a while due to a problem on LJ's end which they won't fix. I've always copied and pasted my entries from LJ to DW anyway as for some reason I didn't like the importer.

I might consider cutting and pasting if I can’t get it to work but DW imports the tags OK and fails at the entries.

The journey was a nightmare. I shall write it up tomorrow!
