Day 14 of lock down

Apr 06, 2020 08:59

I can't believe it's been a fortnight of lock down - it's gone reasonably fast which is pleasing, and mostly we have coped OK. The next couple of weeks are supposed to mean we reach the peak of infections, famous people have died, health workers are dying, there are still some shortages in the shops (what are people doing with all the flour??), my ( Read more... )

I was amazed when John came back from our small Tesco Express with flour. I was reading an article about the flour shortage and apparently it's all to do with the packaging and the distribution not the actual production of flour. Flour that used to go to commercial businesses is packed in containers too large for shops but hopefully they will be able to solve that problem eventually.

Being able to take more notice of the garden birds is a joy isn't it. Ours are mostly robins, blue and great tits and pigeons but I did see a wren a little while ago.

Oh that explains the flour issue! I did find that Lakeland are still delivering and if you have an account they have flour.

The birdies are a joy.

I do have a Lakeland account but I thought they had stopped delivering. Thanks for the info but we are OK now as not only did John manage to get some plain flour but we discovered some bread flour at the back of the cupboard that wants using. Lockdown is very useful for finding stuff you'd forgotten you had!

Lovely post, Kaz. You make excellent points, especially online technology and LJ. I don't know what I'd do otherwise.

I think life would be almost unbearable if we only had TV. I don’t think I’d cope very well and so many businesses would have to have people in offices! It would be a disaster.

I was sitting here nodding in agreement with your list of positives - we do have a lot to be thankful for.

Your clematis is ahead of mine - there are lots of buds but I think it will be at least a week before we have flowers.

The clematis is extra special as we nearly lost it in the very hot summer a couple of years ago. Half of it died. However I think because it’s got larger it’s in ideal conditions with the roots in shade and the top in sun. It seems to like it.

It is so good to see the blossom coming out and leaves beginning to appear, isn't it.

I do love the colour of new leaves on trees - that pale green is very much ‘Spring’ for me.
