I teared up at that, actually.
This really feels like a window into Owen's head.

You know, this is maybe the second time(?) I've written from Owen's POV. I think that helped, actually; I had to rewatch all those scenes and think carefully about Owen because I wasn't familiar with writing him.
Thanks for your comment.

PS: I went and read the original and I like yours better.

Thanks! I'm so happy I... could make you sad???
well pfft you HAVE to say that b/c you're part of the Triumvirate. Not that I imagine my LJ friends as ruling members of ancient political systems or anything. >>

And I have to say that I've been waiting for someone to do something interesting with the not-quite-parallel between Owen's pheremone-roofie in Ep1 and the rape-murder in Ghost Machine. Using his rationalizations as the point of departure works brilliantly for that, and then the other elements just kind of fall into place. I especially liked his "doctoring" Gwen and the parallel you drew with Jack there, and the line Now, his duty is to make sure that she scars.
May I friend you? I'm a longtime if lurky fan. :)

Heh, once I realized that (at least in this interpretation) Owen was basing his morality on Jack and Gwen's opinions, the rest of the piece did fall into place. Jack and Gwen really are the moral backbones of the show-- which makes it realllly interesting when they do morally shady or outright morally deplorable things.
You are welcome to friend me. :) This is probably the last TW fic I'll write, though, so don't feel obligated to friend if you're just here for the fic. I probably won't friend you back, but that's only because I keep my flist insanely small in order to cut down on procrastinating. Most of my entries are public and I'm always happy for people to randomly comment.
