A sort-of colleague of mine shares a rented apartment to the tune of $1000 a month. Where I come from, $1000 is a pretty princely sum.

K: So why do you rent the apartment?
E: Because it enables me to love my parents more.

He said it so well. I think some distance is healthy for parent-child relationships.
