Today I went to the beach and got MASSIVELY SUNBURNED because spray-on sunblock apparently isn't worth crap. Life lessons, people. Whatever, it was totally worth it, it's been years since I last swam in the ocean.

I haven't actually read much by Tamora Pierce (I keep meaning to), but I know that Mark of Mark Reads has been reviewing some books from that series chapter by chapter, and he usually has a pretty active comments section. It's not the same as having fic to read, but perhaps it might be some help with the feels. Here's a link.

Ha, Mark is the whole reason I finally bought the Beka Cooper books, because I wanted to read them before he got to them. I guess I'll just have to wait for him to get to them before I can bask in the comments. (The books he's currently on is far and away my least favorite Pierce series, which is a massively unpopular fandom opinion since apparently everyone else loves the Kel books best.)

Y-you don't know me because I am a stalker (from your fics) but I just want to say good luck with housing, and I adore the Tortall universe and would be totally game to gushing because seriously it's like why doesn't anyone talk about this fandom IT IS GLORIOUS.

It's super easy to find people who love Tortall, but it doesn't seem like anyone has read the Beka books! It's weird. Also, everyone else seems to like Kel best, which is totally cool, but hers is far and away my least favorite Tortall series, so I always wind up feeling a bit of an outsider in that fandom. WOE IS ME.

My favourite is Daine (spelling...?) but Beka and her world were captivating, especially with the lack of gender segregation/roles at all, and the hints of the thought processes that were creeping into society and how they would come to shape the contemporary world that we're all familiar with.

I also have a /thing/ for Nawat and Aly. 8D And all the gods because they're so cranky it's hilarious.

I got to see Tamora Pierce's guest of honor speech in March and she was amazing. I really admire her.
