reversebang etc

Apparently I misunderstood the X-Men Reversebang schedule -- and it sounds like I'm not the only one, since they just posted a clarification that while there's a mandatory author check-in on May 21, the rough draft itself isn't due until June 20. THANK JEBUS. Seriously, writing this thing has been like pulling teeth, and while I've been planning on ( Read more... )

idk, I'm much more open with sharing my WsiP (frequently I'll start a googledoc and immediately share it with littledust, if I'm not already copying and pasting half the fic to her in GChat), but I would say ask your artist? I asked mine right up front and she made it very clear that she'd be happy to supply more art based on what I was doing, but the writing portion was completely in my hands and it was up to me what I shared with her and when I shared it. I've heard of other people emailing their artists constantly and a couple other who, like me, were basically told to have fun and let their artist know if they need anything ( ... )

That deadline was super not clear. I read those instructions a bunch. Just sayin'. Also, yeah, some people's processes are kind of intense. For me, my "outline" is...well, sometimes at the bottom of the doc I'll have a list of SCENES TO WRITE, which tend to be, like, "confrontation w/Emma" or "and then sex" or, from current RBB doc, "-alone alone alone, going crazy. meets Piotr, can't hear him in metal form. fuckses." So, yeah. Sitting down and writing words, basically. Research is that thing that happens where I decide I really need to know what kind of helicopter they'd be in and then spend the next hour trawling Wikipedia.

Fandom is weird. I mostly just don't talk to anyone and write/vid in a room by myself and then post it and then continue not talking to anyone. Um.

I highly support your working on Queen's Gambit. I missed that fic so much during the hiatus.

Honestly, I have a beta who I show snippets to every once in a while for feedback on what direction to take, but I haven't spoken to my artist since I claimed the art from her. All she asked was that she read the fic after I finished it. It's whatever the two of you want.

I miss it when it's on hiatus too! Um. Oops.

Yeah, I mostly just worry about how I don't know how to collaborate with people. Urg.
