why tumblr why, and also 2011 year in review meme

After spending an hour and a half futzing around, I have come to the conclusion that I am completely stupid when it comes to Tumblr. Everything about what that site is and how it functions is completely counterintuitive to the way my brain processes information. UGH. I like the pretty pictures! I just can't figure out how to do anything with the ( Read more... )

Tumblr is kind of crap, as addicted to it as I now am. Margaret's boss was asking about it the other day (he's a LARPer, so we're pretty candid about fandom with him) and I was like, "I don't understand how it works. It's shitty as hell. People are assholes. But I know how to make pretty pictures of James McAvoy's face come to me, and that's all I really need to know." Fannish interaction is not its main purpose (if it even has one) and it's a terrible platform for communication ( ... )

UGH. I feel like I'm conducting some kind of anthropological study every time I try to engage in Tumblr fandom. Communication just makes NO SENSE over there!

I don't get Tumblr either. It's so inexplicable from my perspective.

Now I'm going to go roll around in your fanworks and try not to read the one with Sally Sparrow until I finish s6... *sulks and sulks and sulks ok*

Hee! The spoilers are very, very vague. But if you're looking for them, they're there.

I don't get tumblr either. Interaction is tough, and if there's any way to put spoilers behind a cut nobody seems to use it. :(

However, I like the pretty pictures, and the Sherlock fandom over there is delightfully cracky, so I recently made a tumblr to follow others and occasionally reblog stuff. I'm over there.

Yay for all your awesome
fanworks!

I do feel bad about the spoilers thing -- man, anyone who didn't have a chance to watch or download Sherlock last night is completely screwed on Tumblr. :/

I know I'm really, really late for the party, but I was one of those who eagerly followed every update of "Boden's Mate," back when it was an ever-expanding thread in the kink meme and staunchly believe it to be the best story in the vast XMFC fandom. Even now, I'm still awed at how you've pulled things off. At the risk of sounding cliched, "Boden's Mate" is a brilliantly-orchestrated, swiftly-paced ensemble piece with an incredibly moving Erik/Charles love story at the heart of it, minus all the "waiting for trains," and similar s***. And bless my heart, you're on the verge of surpassing yourself with "Queen's Gambit," dreaming bigger and bolder. So I just had to take my (metaphorical) hat off to you and let you know how much I'm looking forward to whatever you're serving up in 2012. Thank you so much for the tantalizing glimpses at the XMFC Theater AU and the "Boden's Mate" prequel, especially for confirming the idea that Charles got acquainted with Miles (and by extension, Mal and Cobb) during his CIA stint ( ... )

Thank you so much! Oh, the kinkmeme posting, that was kind of insane. I'm so glad you're enjoying that 'verse, even if I am appallingly slow at updates these days.
