I am way, way behind on Merlin. By which I mean I finally sat down and started watching S4 tonight. Halfway through 4x02, I just have to say -- ( minor spoilers )
Merlin's massive anachronisms can be super distracting. (The complete lack of any mention of Christianity really threw me when I started watching the show. In actual medieval literature, people are calling on God and seeing miracles everywhere. I get that keeping religion out makes it less likely to offend someone, but it has nothing to do with actual early medieval times.) I try to treat the show as not even sort of set in the history of this Earth. They're in some sort of alternate universe where the rules about things like how servants and masters relate are very different. Still, it doesn't even apply its own rules consistently

Fucking drapery, man, takes all my favorite characters.
IT'S SO TRUUUUEE. ::sobs::
So, after/in the middle of that episode, my siblings and I kinda stopped and made up a little story where Lancelot and Sirius end up chatting, hanging out and cursing the Veils of Death and commiserating over epic loves they left behind.
Honestly, I just want Arthur to find out about Merlin's magic. I just. HRRG. FIND OUT ALREADY ARTHUR. Do it. But I do love that even though he's the king now him and Merlin don't really act much different around each other like at all. Arthur's still sassy and Merlin's still "I'm putting up with your crap but secretly I know you're a good guy but I'll juuuust be a pain in the butt because I can and you deserve it."
Also. Morgana. That woman. I actually really started to like her and then she went evil, which I knew was coming but. Gosh darn it.
AND GWAIN. GWAIN. Best comedy relief and loosey goosey character ever.
Aaaand I haven't yet read any fictions for this show yet, would you happen to know of some good ones?
NO LANCELOT WTF ARE YOU DOING, DO NOT STEP INTO THAT FUCKING VEIL, YOU ARE MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS SERIES SO FAR...Fucking drapery, man, takes all my favorite characters.
I KNOW! Harry Potter, Merlin, maybe murderous drapery is just 'in' now. But I couldn't handle when they killed Lance off like he doesn't mean anything. They're supposedly bringing his gorgeous Chilean ass back on in the next episode (4x09, I think?), which brings about the whole, "OMG. IS THIS HIM? IS HE EVIL? WTF ARE WE GONNA DO? IT'S NOT LIKE WE BATTLE EVIL EVERY DAY OR ANYTHING. O:"
