Because everyone is dying to know my TV viewing habits

The fall TV season is upon us once more, and once more I'll be attempting to watch shows and maybe actually stick with them. We'll see how long that lasts. Anyway, here's something like a schedule:

Monday

Heroes: Season Four premieres September 21st at 8:00pm on NBC.
House: Season Six premieres September 21st at 8:00pm on FOX.
The Big Bang Theory ( Read more... )

self-indulgent spam, tv, science fiction, heroes, fringe, house, psych, sgu

Musicals are very hit or miss with me, but I'll have to give this one a try.

I tried watching the first ep of Glee back when it was on after Idol, I think, but it just didn't click for me. I don't know...maybe I'll try it again at some point.

I liked Sanctuary more as the season went on. I'm curious to see where they are gonna go with it. Plus I love Amanda Tapping so I wanna stick with it b/c she rocks!

I'm also looking forward to Flash Forward but damn my Thursdays are always the biggest night for me.

Heroes...we'll see. Last season didn't blow me away at all and I'm almost tempted to quit watching and wait for dvds. IDK.

My brother told me that Sanctuary got a lot better later in the season, but I'm kind of anal about watching everything in order so I didn't pick it up again.

Honestly, when it comes to Heroes I don't know if I'd care enough to spend the money on DVDs, even if it's just through Netflix or something. I'll probably just catch it online and hope it gets better.

I enjoy Glee and Castle. Glee is kooky and has many fantasy musical moments (as well as performances), so if you don't like musicals you may not be into it, but if you do.... I actually haven't watched all of Castle season one, but I watched a short catch-up video free on iTunes and that's really all you need. It's still a crime procedural with the crime of the week style. I like Sanctuary so I'm looking forward to the next season. Hated Fringe but I didn't even get through the two-hour pilot so maybe I didn't give it a fair chance.

I watch too too many shows but DVR and Hulu help me keep up. I'm in the middle of a Psych season 1-3 rewatch right now. What do you think of the new episodes so far?

Some musicals I love and some not so much, so I guess I'll just have to watch Glee and see what I think.

I kind of hated Fringe, too, and I didn't make it through the pilot, either. I did watch the second and third episodes but I was pretty bored. I keep being told that it really picked up after the first few episodes, though, so I feel like I should give it another chance.

I'm not sure what I think about the new season of Psych yet. I looooooved this last one (Bollywood), but the three before that seemed to be missing something. I enjoyed them a lot, but they weren't quite firing on all cylinders. The Old West one especially; I mean, I liked it, but I didn't really like how Shawn and Gus were almost entirely superfluous to the story. I kinda tune in to watch them banter and have fun and solve crimes, and while I'm not going to say, "Psych can't focus on any other characters ever," I still kind of want them to at least be relevant, you know?

I feel like that about this season so far. I think you pinpointed what I wanted out of the Old West one, too -- they were sent to Old Sonora specifically because to solve the case and then they didn't really do much. Also, I don't know if I'm just less tolerant of Shawn's character this year, but I think he's behaving more douchy -- he's always been obnoxious and in love with his own voice, but it was more in a good way in other seasons, more goofy and less grating, and he still got to have nice moments with other characters, especially Gus. I've been rewatching and I'm struck by how much more I like him in earlier seasons. Maybe I just feel like this because of the "Shawn has the Yips" episode, which I really wanted to like but didn't think Shawn showed many redeeming characteristics at all (plus the plot holes!).

I did love the Bollywood episode. I wish they would get over the whole Shawn/Abigail/Jules thing, though. There doesn't need to be romantic relationships in this show. I did actually like Abigail in this ep however.

I'm...honestly trying to ignore the shippy stuff. It's hard because I've always thought Abigail was adorable, and I don't like how she's being used as a plot device to manufacture Shawn/Jules angst/jealousy. I HATE when shows pull things like that, and I was really hoping Psych was better than that.

As for Shawn's behavior, I don't know. I've been watching some old episodes, too, and I think he did some pretty asinine things in the first season...but then he got better. So it seems like his character has regressed. That's something I hope the writers get over, too. They've been pretty good so far about letting the characters develop somewhat, and they need to continue that instead of going backwards.
