This week's (and last week's) TV

I actually meant to make a post like this last week but never got around to it due to RL issues. But anyway, here's my run-down of this week's (and last week's) TV. There are spoilers under the cuts for all the shows.

Monday is for Heroes )

I have to admit, I have ditched Fringe for "the Mentalist" on CBS. It's about a former...well, he pretended to be a psychic but he's really just hyperobservant--yes, very much like the Will character on "Sanctuary".

And he's a consultant for a fake FBI (the California Bureau of Investigation or something). The FBI really gets a work out this season on shows. I found the pilot riveting, and the second ep was pretty good too. The guy's boss is this woman who plays neither damsel in distress nor hardass. And the other characters on the team are intriguing too.

If you've ever seen Psych, it's kind of like that, but not goofy. There's a darker edge, but it's still has a humorous side--more like House, but less misanthropic and Vicodin.

Hmm, I might have to try that. I'm not a big fan of Psyche, which is why I didn't really pay any mind to The Mentalist, but if it's different enough it might be good.

I stopped watching Psych because as much as I liked the premise and even the buddy tone (and Dule Hill), the protagonist grated on me.

I'm very much a fangirl of the Mentalist though...all...two episodes I've seen about it so far. I feel a bit of a cad turning away from John Noble and the gang, but...Fringe just wasn't grabbing me.

I'd be willing to keep watching it if it was on another time.

So the Mentalist is on at the same time as Fringe? On CBS? I'll have to remember to give it a try next week.

I watched the Sanctuary two-hour premiere last night, and for some reason, my interest faded in the middle. I'll watch the next couple (shorter) episodes, and see what I think. I liked the actors a lot; I just got sidetracked by too many storylines. I had a similar problem with Fringe, which looked like a show I would love but was so boring and obvious and, well, I won't go into it, but let's just say I thought it would be better. Are the episodes better than the premiere? Maybe I should give it another shot.

I love Pushing Daisies! I make a special effort to talk about Pushing Daisies with people I know, because nobody seems to know about it. They did a lot in this episode. I keep wondering what Olive will think when she comes back and finds Chuck in her apartment! Come home, Olive!

Now that we have DVR (yeah, it's totally new for us), I can keep up with a lot of shows. Man, I watch too, too much television. (c:

Yeah, I will agree that it dragged a bit in the middle. I think the one-hour episodes will probably be better.

I want Olive to come home soon, because I love all four of the main characters together. I hope they don't keep her away from the main storyline for much of the season.

Heroes definitely started out way confusing this season. I highly enjoyed the third ep more than the first two. I really like that possibly all Ali's characters are clones. That's definitely something I didn't see coming ( ... )

Yeah, copying the 4400 made me kind of mad, too. I never saw all of season four of the 4400 so I don't know how the promicin storyline turned out, but I couldn't believe Heroes was going down that route too.

Meh, I'll probably keep "watching" Fringe just because it's right on after House and I need to have something playing in the background while I work on my Tuesday night newsletter.
