yeah i have vista on the new desktop and i hate the asking permission thing. Even after I tell it to always grant access it *still* asks me whenever I boot up EQ2 or iTunes. I heard there was a way to turn it off but I never looked into it

wow thats a great deal with the university for cheap software!

Yeah, I do know there's a way to turn all that stuff off, but I'm always too lazy to try and find it.

I finally turned Mr. Annoying off. There was stuff I was trying to install and it wouldn't let me saying I had to have Admin Priveleges ..... hello?

I like the new photo stuff -- I wish it wouldn't open a New Window every time, though. I wish it was more like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and just used the same window.

FWIW, I have not hat one single compatibility problem with Vista -- except for Help Files. Micro$oft, as is their wont, changed the help-file format, so none of the earlier help files work. But all of my software (Office 2003, WordPerfect whatever, Works, MacClade, PaintShop Pro, etc. work just fine.

Oh, that's seriously good news. I had kind of resigned myself to the fact that most of my programs wouldn't be compatible. I'm still going to get MS Office 2007, but I'm really glad that I can install my WordPerfect and Paint Shop Pro, too.

I actually got a copy of WP X (eBay) Just in Case and the newest version of PSP, but I use WP 12 and PSP 8 with absolutely no problems at all. :-)

I really don't like Office (I will say I adore Access; Excel and PowerPoint are OK, but Word is IMO nasty); but I absolutely LOATHE Office 2007. Make sure you look at it before you purchase. Micro$oft changed *EVERYTHING* about the interface.

I got PSP 8 loaded on fine, but my WP 12 refuses to install. It might be a problem with my disc, though, and nothing to do with the operating system.

I've used MS Office 2007 before because my school is slowly upgrading everything, so I'm already somewhat familiar with the interface. I kind of like the new one; it makes it easier for me to find things.
