Hey...So i had to look for bento tips online and showed Lily some of your pictures. She is excited and wants me to make her bento tomorrow so that she can take it to school on Monday for her field trip. =D
Anyways..IN my search i found this site where this mom makes some totoro, hello kitty, kiki bento... =D take a look.. http://yaplog.jp/q0-0p/category_18/ The 2nd to the bottom one is really cute! >_
I didn't get a chance to get Lily an ice pack (and I'm not sure if you have one). But I found some at Fry's for $2, I have a Strawberry Shortcake one. They are nice and small, and stay cold for awhile.
Also, ss-biggie, has lots of practical tips on her LJ for making quick bento. You might be most interested in the freezing onigiri, because that would be super easy!
When I see you again I can give you a few other items that might be useful like some sauce bottles, toothpicks, etc.
I'm really excited to hook you and Lily on bento. I know that it can be time consuming, but it doesn't have to be. I think Lily would do a great job of packing her own lunch, and you could always make a "fancy" one on occassion. Most importantly, don't forget to take pictures . . . I mean . . . have fun!
