Speaker: Mitt. Mitt. I'm saying it a lot because I want it to sink in how ridiculous that name is.

The preview for tonight's episode of House asked, "How far will House go to protect the patient?" To which question the answer is quite obviously "Very far, with the stressed understanding that he'll undertake that effort not because he cares about the patient or because he is in any way able to feel human emotions but because he loves a puzzle. They are. They are! They're upset for the very inverse of why someone reasonable would be upset. Well put. No wonder we can't find any common ground, we aren't even starting with the same laws of reason.

Those are some frustrating qualities in a governor! My question is, would we rather have someone who doesn't really care one way or another but sometimes pretends either way, or someone who truly believes something we don't?

That's silly. I think it more likely that we all want someone to tell us they believe the same way we do then quietly get on with the business of doing whatever they like.

Right? My head hurts. Let's talk about less thinky things, like why Project Runway Allstars is so terrible.

I'm with you. I find political pandering a lot less scary than some of the things Newt honestly believes.

If Santorum were at all aware of what was going on with Americans he'd be on to the fact that no one is going to elect a man whose name is literally synonymous with ass froth.

But his absurd name makes the adorable nickname "Mittens" possible grrgoyl January 31 2012, 16:43:25 UTC
My sister lives in Mass and told me he wasn't bad as a governor. I personally think if he gets the nomination, the only righties who would have absolutely no problem voting for him are the "Anyone but Obama" folks. I base this opinion on one episode of the Rachel Maddow Show where she played a montage of clips from rightwing media all blasting Mittens, so they really don't like him much more than we do.

I wish I could say he shot himself in the foot with all his 1% shenanigans, the tax returns, the $57,000 a day paycheck, but we all know people are way too stupid to care about any of that. It just kills me that his brand of flip-flopping is what they accused Kerry of 8 years ago and that was enough to defeat him.

You should write for m15m (movies in 15 minutes), that's what your script breakdown reminded me of.

Ugh. That only reminds me of softball. kavieshana February 3 2012, 07:41:32 UTC
Do conservatives vote on "Anyone but..." stances? I was once told that the only reason democrats ever win is because conservatives will stay home rather than vote for someone they don't like. Not sure who told me that but in hindsight it's not exactly the voice of reason speaking to me through time and space.

I loved m15m! Is that still going on?

I've heard that as well. I've also heard that's the only reason the Right puts hot-button issues like gay marriage on every election ballot, to make their people come out and vote ( ... )

(Oh and yes, m15m is still going, though very sporadically. She's been focusing a lot of energy on Twilight.)

I am just stupefied by the GOP as a whole. Why does it seem like they, without exception, support everything that is anti-human? I mean, what will they gain by destroying reproductive rights and gay rights? I understand the tromping the poor and middle class to make more money, the sending jobs overseas to make more money, etc. But why are they so ragingly anti-individual freedom? Probably their religious base, right? I just don't understand how we can have a major political party in power that singlemindedly wants to drag us all back to the Dark Ages. I suspect they're all actually Skynet robots and the Terminators haven't been perfected yet.
