Too much good TV to watch...

Don't often rec shows as I'm usually the last to see them. I have a dearth of shows to catch up with - 24, lost, BSG, Deadwood. Somehow ended up watching Jericho instead. Post apocalyptic, small town America and how they cope with the aftermath of a nuclear bomb. I'm pimping it to ya'...if it should ever appear over here that is.

Have tried to avoid spoilage, but in case you're totally NOT interested...then skip it )

The naughty way, I'm afraid. I don't think they're out on dvd yet, at least not in English, I know there's a Japanese release of CJ. Charlie Jade has the rather culty feel of a show that'll garner itself a hardcore fan base but is unlikely to make the mainstream. Jericho is doing well over in the US but it does occaionally devolve into a homey mid west style soap opera (that's when I get a lull moment!) Shame, 'cause the main plot is most excellent.

I would absolutely LOVE to watch a Brit made show of the same nature! With all the grittiness that we CAN put into our shows. I agree there's very much a lack of it on our TV. I have a thing for Who as I grew up with it, so I do tend to let it off the hook a little (and was very releived that the recent ep made an effort back to action), but both DW and TW were a little of a let down for me in many ways. So much potential unexplored or unused.

Saw Triffids back in the day and have watched it more recently too - brilliant indeed! I read a lot of Wyndham when I was a kid. Have you ever seen The Tripods? I think it was on around the same time, based on the John Gardner trilogy. Much more in the future, but a fascinating glimpse into how society might regress.

Am racking my brains, but cannot think of another non white lead either. I do like the sound of your film though, what genre is it?
