Saw Martha Wainwright last night. She was her usual beautiful, radiant, passionate self. I probably don't need to reiterate things I've written about her in the past, so I'll just link to
my last review. The setlist was heavy with tracks from her new album, which I don't like as much as her first, but it doesn't matter. She also played Leonard Cohen's "The Traitor", which had the band collaboratively singing the lyrics off a sheet of paper, and she sang a devastatingly sensual version of "Stormy Weather" (see the first photo below).
Here's Dan Wilson (of Semisonic fame), who said that their 90s hit "Closing Time" could be a metaphor for an electorate telling their current administration that it's time to leave. He was an amiable and engaging opening act, and even got the whole crowd to sing along to a song they didn't know:
More of my pictures from the show are

And these are my videos of full songs:
Factory and
Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole.
I'm off to catch up with some friends, and tonight I'm going to a Tom Petty tribute show. How sad that this country needs to organize tribute shows for a band that is still alive and well, but will never grace these shores with its presence.
